About Me
An art professor once told me, "You have to learn the rules
before you can break them." I was and am hopeless as an artist.
Even my stick figures are crooked. But I did spend quite a few
subsequent years applying that advice to another discipline,
and by the time I'd completed a Ph.D. in English with a
specialization in John Donne, I allowed as how I might have a
nodding acquaintance with the English language. However, it
took another couple decades for me to allow as how I might
have something to say in it.
Which brings me to this, my first published novel, Deadly
Crossings. One of my sisters, a retired high school English teacher,
said a few years back, "We've read the serious stuff. Now it's time to
read for fun." And when I started, at the urging of a friend, plunking
things out in Word, I thought it was probably time to write for fun,
as well. More recently, Sis said, "People want a good read," and I
hope that's what this is--especially since it has several siblings
waiting to make their debuts.
Other than that, my favorite author is probably Mark Twain. I like
alpaca sweaters and socks, jazz, the idea of green tea, and sushi--and
I don't worry about the mercury in the fish.
I am currently at work on a sequel to Deadly Crossings.
